What skills are most important for a job like yours?
I will say that all of the jobs I've had don't necessarily have a lot in common. It's not like I went from assistant manager to manager to director; I've only done that for one company.
You can see it from teacher to now hospitality consultant, a wide range. In each job or industry, I've really looked at what skill sets are required or what skills are most needed and if I have them in this particular role.
I think my ability to connect with people has been the biggest asset. I'm really passionate about helping to develop others, and having a background in teaching and learning has really helped on the training side. That heart of service or passion for helping people, in addition to training, have really pulled me into my consultant role in the hospitality industry.
