What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
As a technical program manager at Microsoft, particularly on the data center infrastructure side, my role is unique and different from a software program manager. My focus is on the physical infrastructure.
My job is to manage the deployment of telemetry systems for electrical and mechanical infrastructure. This includes heat, humidity, power, and water usage sensors. I work with many different partners across most of our global sites.
I manage around a hundred projects simultaneously, so I take a programmatic approach. I rely on my team of subject matter experts to manage the process flow.
My work involves building reporting templates to understand project status better. I also develop systems and processes to make onboarding new projects more efficient, ensuring partners have consistent goals and deliver by their milestones.
This means consolidating contract language into actionable steps. We then implement reporting and tooling systems to make the process more effective, efficient, and understandable.
The next step is to accelerate this process with automation and gain executive buy-in for future proposals.
