What did you do in undergrad to set you up for success in your career?

First and foremost, at Cal Poly, career services is such an asset. Going to the resume workshops and utilizing all of those resources were so helpful in building a resume that actually got me hired. I'm also thankful for my time working in my department because I had a ton of stuff to talk about in job interviews.

As a result, when I interviewed at Icon, they were very interested in hearing about my responsibilities. They liked that I had experience utilizing media resource, not research platforms, as a result of that job. Those professors were the people who gave me referrals; they were happy to tell people at Icon that they liked working with me and speak to those experiences, which was really great.

Going to marketing clubs like AMA was so fun. You get to hear people speak about different career paths, but for me, it was really nice to meet like-minded people. When we were applying for jobs, many of us were in the same boat, and it was nice to have people who understood what I was going through.

I'm still in contact with quite a few people from those clubs. They were some of the first to congratulate me on my promotion, and it's fun to see where everyone ends up.
