What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
I was hired at the firm to create their human resources function. I'm still in the process of building that out and have been here for almost a year. Creating any new function within an organization takes time.
It's important to be respectful of existing staff and established processes while learning the business. I'm doing a lot of interesting work here, including leadership development for mid-level and executive leaders.
I also focus on employee development, helping individuals grow in their careers and understand potential career paths. Recruiting is another significant aspect of my role.
I'm dedicated to identifying great emerging talent and ensuring our company is competitive in its recruitment strategies. This involves staying informed about what other organizations are doing regarding benefits and recruitment.
Additionally, I handle benefits administration. This means working with insurance carriers and brokers to ensure we offer the most competitive and valuable benefits for our employees. It's a lot of work, but it's rewarding.
