What sort of skills are most important for a job like yours?
I would definitely say detail-oriented. It's a lot of numbers. Deceitfully, you think that you're just buying fun things to put on the floor, but it's a lot of numbers.
It's a lot of Excel time and it's a lot of management in terms of organization. So, organizing all the POs that come in, organizing all the requests, organizing every single vendor that you're managing.
So, a lot of organization, a lot of detail orientation. Many times, I get POs with incorrect pricing. Anything they could put on there, and it's my job to catch it and make sure everything is correct.
And time management, I'd say, and communication. Making sure that you're really communicating everything very clearly. A lot can get lost in email translation.
You think that you're being very clear, and somebody completely misunderstands what you're saying. So, really learning how to communicate not only with your team but your external vendors that you're working with on a day-to-day basis.
