How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
The people who thrive and succeed are the ones who have self-drive. This might sound cliché, but in my experience, it's true. You can't be emailing a client about every single question you might have.
Your managers are typically very supportive, but you also can't be emailing them about every single question. There's a fine line between having questions and wanting to learn, and those questions impeding your progress. This applies to your actual work on projects as well as your self-growth.
It's about being able to take the information and knowledge you already have. Even in school, you learn plenty of applicable skills that can be applied in a professional setting, even as a recent grad starting your early career.
Having that self-drive and initiative, based on the knowledge and skill sets you already possess, and building upon that, is what allowed me to succeed a bit. It has also certainly allowed other professionals I've seen to succeed.
