What a President at Rudin Enterprises Wishes They Had Known Before Entering the Real Estate Industry
Josh, President at Rudin Enterprises, learned the hard way that the role demanded a "full team," contrary to initial assumptions that the work could be managed with fewer employees. This realization, coupled with unexpected challenges like "very rude guests" and the constant "on call" nature of the job, led to regret over the business acquisition and a subsequent restructuring.

What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered the industry?
I wish I had been told about the challenges with hiring. I wish someone had warned me that guests could be very rude, or that I'd have to be on call at all times for guests and owners, unless I hired the right people to take over.
When I started in this role, I thought I could handle everything myself. My partner and I believed we didn't need to hire anyone else, thinking we'd make more money by not paying additional staff.
However, there's so much involved in this business that you absolutely need a full team. I didn't realize going in that you needed all hands on deck.
Now I've reached a point where I feel I can take a day off and know everything is running smoothly. It takes time to get there. I wish I had known that beforehand because I regretted buying this business.
I paid for a business that already had a few clients. I've since added to that and completely restructured. I wish they had told me all of this before selling.
