What skills are most important for a job like yours?
For consulting, there are four main skills that I would say are important to have or to strengthen: analytical thinking, communication, leadership, and managing ambiguity.
If you're in consulting, you need to be able to look at a problem and think about it in different ways. You have to be really good at analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data, so that's important.
With communication, you're engaging with people all day and communicating very complex ideas. Being able to break down something complicated and communicate that efficiently is super important.
With leadership, there's a lot of responsibility to be working with these really high-end clients. You need to be able to lead comfortably in that space.
Lastly, ambiguity. A lot of these problems are really complex and don't have a very direct solution. You need to be comfortable managing all that ambiguity and creating structures for yourself.
So, I would say those are the most important skills you need to be a successful consultant.
