What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
There are a few things that I enjoy: the community I'm a part of, the amount of learning I can experience, and the strong culture.
For community, because I did consulting post-MBA, everyone who joined with me from business school came from all kinds of backgrounds. One was a former chemist, someone else was a former worker in government, and another did consulting before this. I'm part of a group of intelligent, hardworking, diverse people who help me become better.
With learning and consulting, you get exposure to all kinds of industries. For example, I never had an interest in banking, but my first project was in banking. I learned a lot about it, and while I realized it's not for me, it's great to understand how that world works.
You can explore all kinds of industries. You can do a project in tech, marketing, or oil and gas and get exposure to develop yourself and your business acumen.
Lastly, there's the culture. With the firm, it's a really huge term and they have a lot of strong employee resource groups. For example, I get a newsletter catered for all the Latinos, and it keeps me informed of what's happening in my community. There are those kinds of breakouts for all identities.
Being able to have that community and culture makes me feel like I belong here, which is really helpful. So, those are what I enjoy the most about my job.
