Responsibilities of a Merchandise and Marketing Manager at Major League Table Tennis
Jordan's main responsibilities as a Merchandise & Marketing Manager involve handling merchandise sales both in-person at Major League Table Tennis events nationwide, where they "set up the booth and...handle transactions," and remotely through the online shop, focusing on advertising, promotional strategies, brand partnerships, and managing customer inquiries to offer a deeper experience than "just selling a t-shirt." They also seek feedback at events to inform future product development and enhance fan engagement.

What are your main responsibilities within your role?
As a merchandise manager, I handle everything related to merchandise sales, both in person and online. For Major League Table Tennis, we have events across the country.
When we're at these events, I physically fly there. We set up a booth and a whole fan zone experience for attendees. We're there for the weekend, handling transactions and talking to people.
We receive feedback on whether the gear we have, geared towards their team, is something they're interested in. The next time we have an event, we can produce team-focused products or have items that build engagement and excitement in the playing arena. This could include things like noisemakers, towels, bobbleheads, or t-shirts.
In person, merchandise work is a lot of effort throughout the weekend. When we're working remotely, especially in the off-season, it's mostly handling online sales. This involves updating our online shop, ensuring advertising directs consumers to us, and planning promotional videos.
We also focus on getting players to endorse our products and building partnerships with brands for cool merchandise. Additionally, we handle customer inquiries, such as refund requests, shipping delays, or issues with sizing.
So, there are many roles within merchandise that go beyond just selling a t-shirt.
