What skills are most important for a job like yours?
The most important skills for this type of job are people skills. That's got to be near the top. You're working with people, whether directly with clients, you have to be both good at your job and good at talking to them. You also need to get them to like you, like a salesperson.
This applies to managing people as well. Management is super important in this role. Making sure you know how to organize yourself and keep others organized is key. Knowing how to hold people accountable, manage, and be a good leader is certainly near the top.
Other important skills are softer skills, like learning quickly. I often have one screen dedicated to Google or ChatGPT because I know how to do some things, but I'm not sure about other tasks. I need to figure those out.
As the leader of a small company, you either pay someone else to do a task or figure it out yourself. We prefer to do everything ourselves. So, a lot of that involves rolling with the punches, being dynamic and flexible, and being willing to dive into a project you may not know how to do. Hopefully, by the end, you'll figure it out and be able to do it better and faster next time.
