Favorite Parts of Being a Founder at GreatBuildz
Jon, Founder and Partner at GreatBuildz, Maxable, most enjoys the "dynamic aspect" of a small organization, where ideas like a new graphic can be "launched on our site" quickly, unlike past experiences in larger companies with slow approval processes. This speed, coupled with the ability to "help people" and directly impact clients' experiences, is a key source of satisfaction.

What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
I'd say I like the dynamic aspect of it. The fact that there is always something different, always something new. There's always a new project, a new initiative, or a new idea that we come up with.
I like that, especially within a small organization, things can happen relatively quickly. At larger companies I've worked at, I had to use a certain system and follow its rules over and over again. I realized I could do things five times faster and be more effective if I used a system I created on the side.
However, the company needed to get it through 10 levels of approvals, and it never happened. So, I was pigeonholed, using their technology, system, and process.
But here, I had a call with my intern last week. We came up with an idea, created a graphic, and launched it on our site. Now we're testing it. Things can happen so much faster within a small organization, especially at this level.
What else do I enjoy the most? I enjoy the people. I also enjoy being able to strive to fulfill our mission. I think it's a lofty goal, especially in a very competitive landscape.
But I think that's what empowers us: the ability to try to solve these large, major problems and help people. As I mentioned previously, I have day-to-day staff who work with our clients. Oftentimes, I still end up talking to homeowners either at the beginning or during the process.
Being able to answer their questions and be the helpful resource they've spent all week looking for feels really good for me. So, it's selfish, but I'll take it.
