Biggest Challenges Faced by a Chief Revenue Officer at Braintrust Tutors

Jon, Braintrust Tutors' CRO, identifies "resourcing" as the biggest challenge in their role, citing the company's small team and simple financial system. This means that even "great ideas" are often hampered by the need to carefully consider how each initiative impacts the company's "cash flow system" and overall financial health.

What is your biggest challenge in your current role?

It's challenging. My role is pretty clear: it's resourcing. We're a very small team, and it's great to have an executive title and to work with some really good executives on the team, but we don't have layers of management.

So if we make a decision, the next question is how we want to progress. Then the next question is where do we find the money for this and what budget do we take it from? It's not like we have a very complex budget system.

We have kind of one cash flow system for the whole company. How much we want to use for any given initiative can very much impact the financials of any given month or any given quarter.

So that's a tough one. Sometimes we have a great idea, I can have an idea, my colleagues do, etc., and we scratch our heads in terms of, "How can we actually do this?" and "How can we do it in a way that doesn't break our bank?"
