Then, what do you enjoy most about being in your industry?

It's wild, and I love it. It's moving so quickly as we have more clinical data and these therapies are being used. Every week, there's something significant and new that changes the way we see things and the way we might need to do things.

That wild ride is great. It keeps you energized, and it's a huge privilege to be involved with that. There's a constant evolution of these therapies and the challenges that come with them, which is really enjoyable.

Because this has been such a nascent industry for so long, we're now seeing this growth and a collegial spirit in working together to help progress things. That's certainly one of the things I enjoy at conferences. It's the same folks, perhaps in different jobs, attending conference after conference.

There's a lot of energy in talking about what you're doing and how you can improve things. It's a very good spirit. I also think we still don't know where these cell therapies are going to go.

We hope we can use them to treat solid tumors effectively, as we have with liquid tumors. We hope we can use them for autoimmune diseases, and it could be a paradigm shift in how cancers are treated and the outcomes. That unknown, but the prospect of it, is really quite thrilling.
