What do you enjoy most about being in your role?
Good question. Growing up, I've always enjoyed helping people. A lot of the jobs I've had involved assisting or caring for others.
I started as an emergency department clerk. My first role at Kaiser was to check patients in, learn why they were coming in, and feel sympathy for them.
I wanted to expand on that in my current role as a memory coordinator. This allows me to understand not just the patients, but also their care partners and what they're going through. I try to put myself in their shoes.
Helping people is great, and that's why my career is currently in patient care and healthcare. It can be exhausting, but you learn that over the years.
I've been with Kaiser for about eight or nine years now. You learn to understand and interact with patients, feel sympathy for them, and know that you're helping someone. That's my favorite part about my position.
