Biggest Challenges Faced By An Administrative Coordinator In Healthcare
Jon's biggest challenge as an Administrative Coordinator at a healthcare provider is time management due to a quadrupled workload, expanding responsibilities such as administering memory tests, and the need to constantly prioritize tasks effectively. Fortunately, Jon appreciates the team environment where one can "figure out what works and what doesn't," despite the increased cognitive demands.

What are your biggest challenges in your role?
As of right now, since the workload has almost quadrupled, I am my own person for the most part in my position. So even if we add more providers, it's still me one-on-one with all our patients.
We went from about 50 to 60 patients per month when I first started, to now about 130 to 150 a month. My role has expanded as well. I do memory tests on patients, which usually take about 10 to 15 minutes per patient.
It has gotten a lot busier. Time management is probably the number one thing I'm working on in regards to my position. You always have to set priorities on what's more important.
I'm fortunate that I'm in a team where I can make decisions, and we talk as a team to figure out the best way to do things. Not all jobs give you that opportunity. So, at least in my role, I have the opportunity to figure out what works and what doesn't, which is a good plus. But it's also a lot of thinking that you have to do.
