What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
I'm going to split my job into two parts because that's really what it was. I was both a health and wellness coach and an extended learning coordinator, which is the title at UT. So I'm going to group them together, but these are the two titles I'll speak to.
By and large, responsibilities included supervising staff, hiring, overseeing, and providing observations and feedback to the individuals I oversaw who worked directly with our students. It also involved a lot of community engagement and building relationships with vendors we might bring onto campus.
There was a lot of relationship building and leaning into seeking out referrals from trusted sources of individuals who work with students to help them academically and socially-emotionally. With the health aspect, which was blended, there were responsibilities around preparing myself for each session emotionally, because you need to be receptive to where the client is and what they're going to share.
It also required referring back through notes, so being organized was essential. There's a data collection element to both jobs. If you're collecting data, you need to know how you'll use it and how it will support or provide information to the organization.
Part of it also involved presentations, both in person and on Zoom, as well as trainings. Meeting deadlines, following up, asking for feedback, and lots of collaboration were key. So, I would say those are the main responsibilities of both those roles within the umbrella of the job.
