What did you do in undergrad to set you up for success in your career?
I tried a lot and worked at many different schools with various age groups. I was involved, though not overly involved on campus. There are many people involved in all sorts of clubs, and I was in just one or two, maybe. I wasn't involved in a sorority or anything like that.
I do have a couple of regrets: not joining the Camping Club at Cal Poly and not studying abroad. To set myself up for career success, I'd advise leaning into the things that bring you energy and that you get excited to learn about and talk about.
I feel like all those varied experiences at Cal Poly helped prepare me for my career. Another important thing is asking questions. As a coach, I ask questions all day long to help clarify and move people forward. As a student, asking questions can mean asking for help or opening doors to opportunities. So, don't be afraid to ask questions and put yourself out there.
