College Experiences That Helped a Wealth Management Financial Advisor Succeed
Jessica's undergraduate success stemmed from "leadership roles," a dual major in economics and psychology (providing "an interesting talking point"), and a relevant internship. This, combined with demonstrating "career growth and ambition and hard work," allowed a non-prestigious first job to serve as a stepping stone to better opportunities.

What did you do in undergrad to really set you up for success in your career?
I think the leadership roles I took on during undergrad really helped set me apart from other candidates. I majored in economics and also had a minor in psychology.
This was an interesting talking point I could add to interviews. Taking an internship at a company related to the industry I wanted to go into was also very helpful.
I believe all these experiences combined made me a good candidate for my first job out of college. It wasn't a very prestigious role or at a prestigious company, but I think that's okay.
It's important to know that it's okay, and the experience you gain is what matters. If you can show good career growth, ambition, and hard work, companies will appreciate that. You can then use it as a stepping stone to a better opportunity.
