What does the day in the life of a president look like?

No two days are ever the same, to be honest. I think that's the part of my job that I love the most. My MBTI personality is ENFJ, and I tend to really like structured things, which is kind of what ENFJs are like, if you're a "J" type.

But what I've learned in this position is to really embrace the spontaneity of the job. That's something I would have never experienced had it not been for this role. A typical day would involve preparing for any meetings I have with my students and ensuring I'm up to date on the information and their progress since the month prior.

I usually have meetings with students after school, around three or four pm. My days, therefore, start a little later, which is nice because I have two sons. I can spend the morning and early afternoon with them and reserve the later part of the day for my students.

Early afternoon is typically when I have many meetings with my staff members. These can be mentorship meetings where I meet with staff for training or check-ins. I also check in with my supervisors, who are lead counselors supervising and supporting the staff. I check in with them to see how they are doing and if there are any significant issues to discuss.

Sometimes I work on training, as we hold professional development days for our staff members. If I need to support in delivering and creating the curriculum for that, that's also something I would work on.

As I said, no two days are ever the same. Sometimes I spend more time talking to parents, and sometimes I do seminars, workshops, outreach, and attend school events or parent association meetings like PTO or PTA. They often want me to speak about college admissions processes or similar topics.

Other times, I have meetings where I manage partnerships with other college admissions offices or organizations that also want to provide resources for our students. Like I said, no two days are ever the same.

However, one thing that is really consistent is that everything I do is for the students. Everything I do is to support my students and ensure they have the resources they need to attain higher education.
