How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
I would say people who are self-sufficient and reliable. What we do impacts our customers and the markets, and it's important to get things right.
You want someone on your team who can take a task, ask good questions, and execute it well. Or, they should communicate early if there's a roadblock.
You really want your people to be reliable. You want to be able to hand them something and be confident in the work they're going to turn around.
Also, I'd look for people who are able to see the big picture and connect the dots. There are a lot of moving parts, a lot of change, and a lot of things happening.
It's one thing to run into an issue, but to be able to identify the overarching impact and come with a view on how it should be resolved, that's where value is added.
