What are your main responsibilities in your current role?
As a project manager, my job is to plan projects, which includes budgeting, scheduling, and allocating resources. Once a project is underway, my role shifts to monitoring and maintaining those aspects.
Projects typically begin with a proposal agreed upon with a client, often through an account manager. This proposal is then passed to me as the project manager, outlining the scope of work.
That scope includes the budget and a rough timeline. My responsibility as a project manager is to ensure our team can deliver on that scope within the defined budget and timeline as effectively as possible.
The primary function of my role is communication. My job simply wouldn't work without constant communication with the team and the client.
I need to ensure my team has everything necessary to meet client expectations. Simultaneously, I must provide the client with the information they need to trust that we are fulfilling their requests.
This often involves weekly updates or meetings with the client to share progress. In some instances, we might be building samples or developing drafts that require client review, which involves coordinating meetings for that purpose.
Occasionally, I'll coordinate interviews between the client and their stakeholders. Ultimately, I would say my main responsibility is communication.
