What does a day in the life of a research scientist look like?

A typical day for me includes looking at financial reports to check on money movement and which projects have been funded, either partially or in full. I also keep track of projects operationally and where they are in the pipeline.

Scheduling and attending many meetings is part of my routine. I also write requests for proposals or expressions of interest for the public when we're considering launching a grant.

This involves opening a grant for solicitation, conducting research, gathering data, and ultimately writing reports. These can be scientific reports or, more frequently in this role with funding, financial summary reports.
