What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
This one is really easy for me. I just love being able to help the company meet or surpass its goals through the use of data and numbers.
I get to spend the vast majority of my time doing research and complex calculations, trying to solve riddles and problems using formulas and numbers. It is amazing that I can go into a meeting with people who are out in the field working and making these things a reality.
All I see are numbers, reports, PDFs, spreadsheets, and emails. I don't see the faces or the people. I don't know the blood, sweat, and tears that go into making these things happen and earning these contracts, revenue, and making this company thrive.
But I can see it through the numbers and through all the files that come across my desk. It's truly amazing. I find that extremely fascinating and love exploring ways to get better at it and find even better ways to save or protect the company.
So that's the biggest thing. I also find it funny that there aren't many people who can do this kind of work; they just can't quite piece it together. It's interesting.
What I've learned is that I can do this kind of stuff at any company. I can learn their systems, reporting, and processes and start providing value almost immediately. I love that I can walk in and within a month already have opinions that can help them make decisions. So those are the two keys.
