How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?

It's a willingness to learn and a willingness to fail, and to continue on. This industry, and cybersecurity in general, can be pretty daunting.

There are many different facets and elements of cybersecurity. Someone looking to go into cybersecurity doesn't need to be a hacker. You don't need to be breaking into things, ethically or unethically.

You don't have to be a coder, and you don't need to know the ins and outs of everything. You can go in and learn, and that's what helps somebody thrive.

Even though it seems daunting, whatever piece you fall into, or even just jobs in general, don't be scared if you don't know something. Don't be scared to ask your coworker for help.

Then, take that knowledge and be confident in yourself to take on the next task by yourself, to try to fail, to learn. This constant cycle is something I've seen not only in my personal and professional career but in life in general.

So, my advice to somebody is to constantly learn. It's okay to fail. Reward yourself for the work that you've done. Don't take things too seriously, and also try to have fun as much as you can.
