Q7: Favorite parts - industry

What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?

The industry I'm in is software sales. There are two main things I enjoy about it. First, you're constantly working with people.

This means every day is different. You learn something new about yourself and others, and you're always learning or growing. This is different from accounting, where you might become very skilled at one specific thing.

Instead, I get a broad experience. I'm constantly made uncomfortable learning new things, all while better understanding how businesses operate. Whether it's the business I work for, or the business I'm selling to, it's cool to see how businesses function.

I love the learning aspect. There's a logic to business, what you *should* do on paper, and what people actually do. Bridging those two on a day-to-day basis is constantly enjoyable.

The other thing I like about my industry, which I think not many people talk about, is that it pays well. I think that's important, and it was one of the reasons I chose this career.

I have a biology degree and didn't want to do research positions because that wasn't my speed. Those positions also don't make a lot of money. This career is my speed, and it helps me make money to live the lifestyle I want. So, I learn a ton and get paid for it – that's pretty great.
