What does a day in the life of your role look like?
"Kind of like that. I haven't walked it; it's pretty, it depends on the day. So generally, I wear a few hats on campus. I run our tutoring program, I'm the yearbook advisor, in addition to all the stuff I do with our ASR students.
I get to school usually around seven, seven-thirty. I do tutoring for an hour before school starts. School starts at 8:30. Once school starts, I do have some resource periods or open periods where I can meet with vendors, with staff, meet with students. We're planning the events and activities that we have throughout the year.
Then I'll teach third and fourth period, where I meet with my leadership students. We talk about what events we want to host, how we're going to fundraise for them, and actually work with them in creating posters, a budgeting plan, all of the ins and outs of planning events.
And then after that, in the afternoon, I get to doing the paperwork. So, in my role, I actually do a lot of finances. Because in order to write an event, run clubs and activities, we need to spend money. So that's where we get to. I'll meet with our bank clerk and students to figure out what our budget is. All that gets officially approved by our ASB. And then I go to the bank and sort of do all that finance stuff.
And then in the afternoon, that's when more clubs are happening after school. So that's when we run yearbook. That's when there's also an after-school tutoring program that I helped run. Students are supporting and staff are helping students with their academics after school. And then we have lots of athletics.
So sometimes my day gets really, really late if we're having an athletic event or an after-school event, and I'm always there for those activities as well. But it's a pretty long day, but it's always exciting. And, as you sort of heard at the beginning, I get called on for walking. So I also am, like, on campus, sort of being in other sort of eyes.
I only teach two classes, and not only but I teach two classes. So I'm sort of helping support the campus that way as well."
