What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered the industry?

With any industry, it's competitive. There will always be people trying to be the best.

That can be intimidating. Some of the first things people ask are if you know certain people, companies, or founders.

However, most people in this industry try to be helpful. Reputation is super important, and there's a culture, especially in the Bay Area, where you pay it forward.

You try to be generous with your time, knowledge, and connections. Most people aim to be helpful.

When you realize that if you knock on certain doors, people will surprisingly answer. When you reach out, they often respond and try to help.

With that mindset, don't be too intimidated by the industry. Even when you're just starting out with no connections, be persistent, and somebody will respond. When they do, take advantage of that.
