A Day in the Life of a Self Employed Executive And Leadership Coach

Hector, a CEO/Founder at OnePlusWe, emphasizes the importance of practicing what one preaches by starting the day with physical activity, including "mobility and stretching exercises," followed by journaling to set the day's mindset and determine key priorities. Preparation is also critical, as the coach reviews client forms ahead of appointments to understand their current state and concludes the day with a quick analysis of their own performance.

What does the day in the life of an executive and leadership coach look like?

I'll start my morning by practicing what I preach, or else I won't be effective. I'm very physically active, and that's key. My mornings begin with mobility and stretching exercises to wake up my body and mind and prepare for the day.

Then I clean up and have a really good breakfast. Journaling in the morning is also key. I don't mean a diary; sometimes it's just a few seconds, other times it's 15 to 20 minutes.

This kind of sets the day and my mindset, helping me determine what's really important and what key things I need to accomplish. After that, I look at who has appointments and who these people are.

I ask the clients I work with to send me a form before a session so I can understand their current state and prepare effectively. So, that's how my day is structured: I have appointments, I have to prep myself, and then at the end of the day, I do a quick analysis of how my day went.
