What did you do in college to set you up for success in your career?
I talked to my advisor a lot. He was in the economics department and had some really great insights on what to look for afterwards.
I was really torn between going directly into an MBA program or working for a few years. He offered fantastic advice that I wouldn't have known without talking to him.
Talking to him and other professors was extremely beneficial. They have more of that industry insight that I just didn't have, as I was only 22 years old and had never really worked outside of smaller roles. I didn't really know what to look for.
So, I definitely recommend talking to the adults around you on campus, like professors and advisors. Being involved on campus, in a sorority, a club sport, and other clubs, really helped me get to know other people. I learned about other options they were interested in, which in turn helped me learn about possibilities for jobs outside of school that I hadn't even realized existed.
