What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

I wear a lot of different hats within mergers and acquisitions at Zillow. The majority of my responsibility is around companies we've identified for acquisition.

My work involves taking a company from early on, after a deal is signed, through negotiations to the signing of the purchase agreement. This includes managing all the people, processes, and systems components required for integration into the broader Zillow infrastructure.

There are many steps involved in this process, largely divided into different phases. I help lead and manage a team overseeing anywhere from 20 to over 20 different work streams, mostly based on functional areas like finance, HR, sales, and customer support.

I identify leads for each area and help them manage the integration from a top-down perspective. This involves understanding how each of their responsibilities impacts the others and coordinating the connection pieces. I like to say I connect a lot of dots between teams that wouldn't normally interact.

I manage this large, cross-functional effort for every deal at Zillow from start to finish. Then, once we reach acquisition close, I hand it off to the respective business leader or owner.

The other half of my role is in the partnership space. Zillow engages in many large-scale partnerships beyond M&A work.

This includes complex, heavy product integrations or anything with a financial component, like payments or revenue share. I help project manage the integration efforts, onboarding partners and setting up the ecosystem to function as scoped in the contract.

So, those are the two main areas of my roles. Ultimately, it's very cross-functional work across the entire Zillow organization. I work with senior leadership teams, up to our C-suite, on a frequent basis.

We align on acquisition strategy, partnership strategy, and broader Zillow strategy, and how that impacts our deals and company decisions.
