What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?

I would say a couple of things. The one thing I really enjoy about working on deals is that they're always different. Even though I'm doing a lot of the same work, like through an acquisition, you're integrating certain components and a lot of that stuff will remain the same, every company is different. Every deal provides different challenges.

So it always keeps it fresh and exciting. Once you get through a deal, no deal is ever the same. I like the variability in the type of work that I do and the ability to become an expert in a certain business line or unit because of the type of work.

I also like the ability to work cross-functionally across the entire organization. In a lot of different roles, you're kind of doing one thing all the time and you don't get to mix with a lot of other functions. I have a really unique viewpoint and lens that touches every function in a business, whether that be the legal team, the tax team, or the sales team.

I understand many different parts of their business to a pretty deep level, because I have to from how you integrate that into what we're either currently doing, or do we keep their business the same, or do we change something up? I really like that aspect of it.

I also value the exposure to senior leaders and the thinking behind decisions they're making. I have a pretty credible amount of exposure to senior leaders and senior VPs across the company. Being able to be in the room for some of those conversations and help drive the strategy of a large Fortune 500 company is pretty unique at my point in my career.

I really value those conversations. I value being put in those experiences and being trusted to help drive the direction of Zillow, help drive the direction of Workday, or any of the clients I've worked on in consulting. It's a really unique perspective to be in the room with those individuals.
