A Day in the Life of a Global Brand Marketing Manager at Snap Inc

Gideon's role as a Global Brand Marketing Manager at Snap Inc. is anything but monotonous; "there's no day that is the same," as Gideon states, juggling agency collaborations on creative assets, internal team feedback integration, legal compliance (even emoji usage!), and a large Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiative. This variety, involving "always a different challenge," is what keeps Gideon energized.

What does a day in the life of your role look like?

There's no day that's the same. For example, earlier this week I had a lot of agency meetings. We work with creative agencies to help us think through everything from strategy to actual design and the creative assets that you see on Snapchat.

I had many meetings with them, and I was also working through feedback from the marketing team, as well as Communications and policy teams. But I'm also working with legal to understand if we can use specific emojis in our creative.

We are working on a big DEI initiative where we want to push our DEI message throughout the year, instead of usually having one big moment at the end of the year. So I've been working with our VP of DEI, as well as a few other agency partners, to think through the right approach for that.

It's always different. I'm always hopping in and out of projects that I'm either directly meeting or influencing, or kind of consulting with as a stakeholder. I love that it's always different.

There are of course things that you have to do every day or every couple of days that are a little more anonymous. But overall, there's always a different challenge that I'm trying to solve, which keeps me energized and motivated.
