What are your main responsibilities within your role as a financial analyst?

The main responsibilities within a general financial analyst role can vary significantly from company to company. Even within a single company, there can be many different financial analyst positions, each with its own unique focus.

When I started as a financial analyst at Apple, I rotated through different teams. I worked on the sales finance team, focusing on driving growth and analyzing promotions and deals.

I was also on a services team, which was very product-focused. We forecasted service revenue and looked at activity-based and financial metrics to support the business overall.

Additionally, I was on a product marketing team for iPad and Mac. We analyzed product roadmaps, considering how demand might change with new features or how consumers would react to new products, like the iPhone 15 with its titanium design.

Currently, I'm on the corporate FP&A spend team. My role involves analyzing program spend across Apple's various functions and optimizing costs to reduce expenses for the company.
