What does a day in the life of a marketing manager look like?
One thing I loved about marketing was that it was never a dull moment. There were a lot of conference calls and we would meet with advertising agencies. They helped us create advertisements and buy media to execute our campaigns.
We had many meetings, and a lot of reviewing materials. We'd make sure there were no misspellings or things like that. We also had to secure legal permission for every single word we said.
Have you ever noticed how many disclaimers are in advertisements? There's often very small script at the bottom that you can't read. Those are all the disclaimers lawyers require so we don't get into trouble by saying something untrue or exaggerating.
There are many rules about advertising, and you have to stay on the right side of them. So, it involved a lot of meetings, and then meetings with our team. Mostly, it was a lot of meetings, but I loved the interaction and sharing of ideas.
I worked with some phenomenal, super sharp, and super creative people. We would feed off each other. I loved the creativity and the product that we produced as a result of our interaction. That was one of my favorite things about it.
