What does a day in the life of a talent recruiter look like?
Generally, I take calls, and I try to limit those to Zoom calls or phone calls. I sometimes prefer phone calls because I experience a little Zoom fatigue.
I only take about five calls a day. I know that might not sound like a lot, but it is, as I have other meetings throughout the day. Essentially, I schedule up to five calls a day.
After that, I add candidates to my database. Then I decide who to introduce them to or add them to a general pool to send to our portfolio companies.
I am based in Sacramento, but I go into the office once a month for a few days. I visit the office if I have in-person meetings for my companies or if there are networking events.
This past summer, I had a couple of on-sites, so I went down to the office. When I am in the office, I typically conduct many in-person meetings, including follow-ups and networking. The majority of my job, however, involves calling, chatting, assessing if we have an opening for a candidate, and then introducing them to our teams.
