What are your main responsibilities in your current role?
My current role is manufacturing engineering one. I'm basically responsible for sustaining the line. Each of the manufacturing engineers is assigned a specific product line.
So, what I do is come in every morning and ensure everything is good to go. I check for any issues with received components or during assembly. We record our work for traceability purposes. If something were to happen to a component, we'd want to look back at our history to confirm it was assembled correctly and everything came in and went out as expected.
I also make sure there are no questions or concerns from the line. Ultimately, my goal is to keep us running. If we're unable to get product out the door, patients relying on that product could be at risk. So, getting product to them is definitely priority number one.
Depending on the day and what's going on, I might be on the line all day, ensuring things flow smoothly. I also clarify any new changes, updates, or questions.
When I'm not on the floor, my main responsibilities include qualifying any new components being brought in. I need to ensure they will work the same as the old version. This involves working with suppliers to get that material.
I'm also responsible for many document updates, such as procedures or processes to improve them. I write and release those documents. If there are any changes with the parts, I act as the subject matter expert, ensuring we have all the information needed to keep everything running.
