Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college?
Please also include any internships or jobs you had before your current role.
I went to school at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. While I was there, I was really involved in the orientation programs, which is a big thing at Cal Poly. It was an excellent experience because they gave us a lot of autonomy and opportunity to flex our muscles in a safe environment.
I also had a couple of internships. I interned at a local marketing agency and ended up being their receptionist, doing odd jobs.
Immediately after my undergraduate studies, I pursued a master's degree in international business from a school called Hult. It's an international school, with about 95 different countries represented in the student body. It was like going to school at the UN.
During that program, I had the opportunity to study and live in Shanghai and Dubai. It was a whirlwind experience that broadened my horizons about the world.
When I returned, I felt it was time to get a job. I ended up at Deloitte in Human Capital Consulting for four years. I was the typical consultant road warrior, traveling every single week and working on projects across various industries.
Then COVID hit, and like many, I had a bit of a perspective change. I wanted something more settled, to be part of a team, and something with more consistency. I loved what I was doing, but I was looking for a change.
I found my current role at The Walt Disney Company in organizational development. I get to do the same sort of problem-solving I was doing in human capital consulting, but internally for a really big, well-known company. I've been here for about three years, and it's been great.
