What is one lesson that you've learned that has proven significant in your career?

One lesson that has proven significant in my career is to not give up when things are hard. There have been times when I've recruited and worked 14-hour days with no results. I'd spend all that time finding the perfect person.

Then I'd find out from the owner or regional team that the position wasn't actually needed. These things happen more often than you would imagine.

It's important not to let that discourage you. Continue to be persistent and maintain a level of emotional intelligence. I think being able to laugh it off is an important lesson I've learned.

Before, I used to think, "This was just a waste of my time. Why would I do this again?" Complaining gets you nowhere unless you have a solution.

So, having emotional intelligence is extremely important.
