Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experience in college? Did you have any internships or jobs before your current role?

Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experience in college? Any internships or jobs you had before your current role?

My career has been a story of change, pretty much since college. I started at UC Berkeley in the fall of 2015 without a clear idea of what I wanted to study, but I knew it would be in the social sciences.

In my first two years, I took economics, political science, and statistics classes. I enjoyed math and wanted a quantitative dimension, both as an intellectual pursuit and to bolster my future career. I ultimately chose political economy because it was a great program that fused these areas into one discipline.

It combined political theory, economics, and quantitative methods. This taught me a lot about the world through reading theories and how they've shaped the global economy and our society.

I wanted to continue this in my career, so in college, I interned with think tanks doing research on economic and fiscal policies. In my senior year, I interned with the Policy Advocacy Clinic at the UC Berkeley Law School. They helped lobby for social justice initiatives and assisted organizations in devising legal cases. This gave me great exposure to where real work meets causes for social benefit.

When I graduated, I wanted to continue working in research and in social policy-oriented organizations. I joined the ad agency MissionWired, but took a turn to a different field. I came on as a Technical Implementation Manager, helping set up tech stacks for nonprofit organizations primarily for email and SMS marketing.

I learned so much about software and structuring complex tech stacks. That led me to my current role at Cap8 IQ, a B2B SaaS company. I'm a Strategy and Operations Manager there.

For the last two and a half years, it's been an excellent education in optimizing how an organization runs, leveraging new technologies for efficiency, and understanding what it takes to grow an organization with constrained resources.

Everything has led up to this point where I'm continuing to learn new things and skills, and to answer and resolve more complicated questions. Personally, the story of my career is one of personal growth and continual learning, which I would say has been the key to my success.
