What is one lesson that you have learned that's proven significant in your career?

Advocating for yourself is crucial for career development. In recruiting, you learn a lot about how an organization is structured and the different skillsets and positions that impact a company's success. For me, it brought to mind the different opportunities that could be available.

Recruiting is my bread and butter; that is my career and what I've succeeded in thus far. But there have been times where I might have developed an interest in a different part of the business. Advocating for myself and speaking up on those interests has proven to be successful.

This is beneficial in terms of starting conversations if I wanted to do a lateral move or completely switch to a different team. I wouldn't have known the intricacies of certain departments without hiring for them.

As I move forward in my career, it's definitely something I'm considering. Considering it internally is even better because of the relationships I've built with my stakeholders.
