What do you enjoy most about being in your role?
Programming is fun. I think most roles have a lot of drudgery. As an engineer, you get to build things and you get to see them work.
Many engineers get a lot of satisfaction from building cool stuff, and that can be fun. Daily problems are hard and they're puzzles. I'm somebody who likes puzzles.
So, if I have a piece of software that's not working, trying to solve that puzzle of figuring out why it's not working can be really fun, really engaging, and really challenging as well. I think that's what brings people to the software engineering profession: either the desire to build cool stuff or the desire to solve logical puzzles.
