What are your main responsibilities within your role?
My main responsibilities as a director in our deals practice are twofold. It's not only delivering our services to clients, but also identifying and selling our services to them.
When you think about a new MBA graduate, we would hire them as a senior associate. They are primarily focused on learning how we operate and deliver our services, and that's all they will focus on: learning the foundational skills of working in deals.
But when you reach the director level, that shifts, and you become more of an engagement manager. You're running the day-to-day projects, but you're not on just one project; you're expected to be on multiple projects.
So you have responsibility for multiple teams and multiple resources. At the same time, you are also on the hunt for those next projects. It's leadership, management of teams, and delivering services, and then also identifying and selling services to new or existing clients when they are contemplating transactions.
