Q8: Who thrives in industry?
How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry? Marketing and business development in the legal profession is different, but very similar to marketing and business development in any industry. The really big difference is you're working for a partnership.
Every attorney in that partnership is equally important, and you have to understand what their motives and goals are. Each one is driven by a different set of goals and aspirations. Being able to understand what those are is a big challenge.
Making sure that you're helping them achieve those is what's important. Ultimately, the same skills that apply to marketing and business development in product marketing or any kind of marketing really for that matter, apply to law. It's just that you add the extra layer on there; you're dealing with individuals in a service marketing environment, and so that's probably the biggest challenge.
