Main Responsibilities of an Owner and CEO of an Online Business

Dave, Owner/CEO of Bar & Restaurant Patrol, describes their role as a "one man show," despite having support staff for emails and software development. This highlights a deliberate choice to limit management responsibilities, even though the work encompasses content creation, marketing across "37" online platforms, and website development, leading to a self-acknowledged need to outsource more tasks in the future.

What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

I am a bit of a one-man show. Running an online business is very unique. I do have support people. I have someone who answers all my emails and a development team for my software.

Besides that, I run everything behind the scenes. I have to put out content like videos for YouTube and write my own blog posts. I handle all my marketing and manage the backend of all these online platforms.

I send out emails to my email list, which is a large part of my marketing. So, I have to know all these backend platforms. I have three websites, all of which I built myself.

I created a list in a Google Sheet of all the platforms I need to know the backend of. There are about 37 that I know inside and out. It took a long process to learn them all.

I should probably outsource more because I would have more time for other things. However, I don't like managing a large team of people. I have two support people and some onboarding people that I outsource.

Besides that, I kind of do everything myself because I don't want to manage a large team. I kind of like it that way. So, I'm a bit of a one-man show in that regard.
