Significant Career Lesson From A Senior Director Ticketing And Experience At Premier Lacrosse League

Danny's significant career lesson is to "be open to trying anything," a philosophy fostered by the Premier Lacrosse League's collaborative environment where everyone "wears a lot of hats." This willingness to help others, "raise [their] hand," and take on projects outside their scope has led to invaluable learning opportunities, broadened their skillset, and fostered valuable relationships.

**Q11: Significant lesson – career**

What is the one lesson that you have learned that has proven significant in your career? I'd say be open to trying anything. Fortunately, within the PLL, we're really lucky that it's super collaborative.

It has to be. So, we kind of have to jump into everything and wear a lot of hats, but it's a great way to get really good experience. We have six values here at the PLL.

The last one is called "Be Helpful." The way the first year of the league ran when it was only 30 people, everyone was responsible for their business unit, and there was no one behind them to do that job.

Whenever someone needed help, they raised their hand, and someone else was always willing to lean in, no matter how late it was or how hard it was. That freed that person to help someone else out.

The amount I learned just from being one of those first people to always try and raise my hand about all these different areas of the business really helped me become well-rounded. I'm certainly still learning so much.

Your willingness to be flexible and raise your hand when someone needs help, and jump into a project that may be outside of your scope or understanding, gives you a great opportunity to build a relationship with that person.

You can also learn a little bit more about their job and what they're working on. That's just going to open your mind.

Then you figure out if there are learnings from that you can apply to your own job, if that's a path you're interested in, or if this is a potential mentor for your future. Just be willing to be open and raise your hand when people need help.

I promise you, it's going to be a great opportunity to learn, and you just never know where it's going to lead.
