What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might want to consider?
The good old PA, the production assistant, or personal assistant, if you're working at a production company or for a writer, director, or actor. That's an assistant, right?
My first real job was as an assistant to the owner of the production company. After I did my time there, they actually moved me up to the next story position. They did that not just because I was an assistant, but because I had expressed interest in a creative outlet.
So, as an assistant or PA, you start working up the ladder. Unfortunately, unless you know someone, that's where networking skills come in. If your cousin knows someone, use that. If your neighbor's cousin down the street, who you've only met twice, knows someone, use that. We love it.
