What is one lesson you have learned that has proven significant in your career?
One of the most important lessons is to always think outside the box. When presented with a problem in your field, try to understand why it exists and if the proposed solution is the best way forward.
As an example, in one of my consulting projects, we had a mundane data transfer task. This involved downloading files and performing several other steps.
Initially, five interns were assigned to this task. I suggested using robotic process automation (RPA) and creating a script to automate the process instead. This would have saved the cost of employing seven interns.
This illustrates that people often stick to established methods. The value you bring to an organization is by offering solutions that save both time and money.
The best way to achieve this is by questioning the status quo and not assuming that the traditional approach is the best one. Adopting this mindset will help you stand out and progress further in your career compared to those who take a more traditional path.
