What skills are most important for a job like yours?
I think there are several important skills for a product owner. If I had to pick the most important one, it would be critical thinking.
To me, critical thinking is about identifying and solving problems and being analytical. As a product owner, I was responsible for the success of my product.
The key to that was understanding my users' pain points and coming up with innovative solutions. It also involved understanding the steps we needed to take to reach our goals.
This included identifying necessary resources and figuring out how to get people on board. Not all resources are directly controlled by me; I need to work with our teams and cross-functionally.
This means I have to be able to convey my ideas, explain why they're important, and convince people to help me work towards our goals. So, I'd say critical thinking, being analytical, being able to work cross-functionally, and being empathetic are key.
