What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
My three main responsibilities are the creation of technical marketing materials, the strategy for our technical marketing, and being a bridge between marketing and the engineering organization.
For creation, my team and I write rough drafts of pieces and then run them by experts across the company for edits. We also coordinate experts speaking at virtual events, helping to set things up and edit their slides. Similarly, for video, we write scripts and attend shoots to ensure everything is technically accurate.
Then there's the overall strategy. This involves deciding on approaches like how to structure articles or what styles to use for videos. We work with our business lines to determine key messages and areas of focus for our content. We also explore higher-level topics such as interacting with AI, leveraging new tools, and aligning our marketing with industry trends.
Finally, being the bridge between marketing and the rest of the organization is crucial. Engineers can sometimes be mistrustful of sales or marketing, feeling misunderstood. By being on the marketing team, I can translate what engineers care about to marketing in an understandable way, and vice versa, adding credibility to marketing efforts.
